Bedside Makeover

I've been looking for a half decent beside something, for the big girl for ages.
Having not found anything yet, I've made over this thing instead!

With Mod Podge and a load of my fabric scraps,
its looking a little bit more exciting than it was previously.

It was not suitable for painting,  so this was an easy and quick way to give it a makeover!

The fabric is almost like a frame to whats going on inside the spaces.

It is sealed with the Mod Podge and then again with a
'permanent clear gloss finish' spray too.

Thanks so much for such a positive response to Hilda on my last post,
I will have to show you a photo of how I set that up!X

My Creative Space

The week started off well, with a few faces painted for some bunny dolls(only one so far with the teeth). But the decision making isn't coming easy with the hair vs faux fur colours. I'm just realizing typing this that I've been stearing clear of making 'blondes' recently (much preferring the darker hair on the girls for some reason). So putting blonde on this bunny has suddenly made me freeze with what to do... Yes, this is coinciding with another phase of insomniac/headache business so its hard to think straight.
Anyway, maybe I need to walk away from these for a while and come back with fresh eyes.
I hope you're having a more creative week than me!x

PS. if you haven't seen my tutorial on how to draw with you sewing machine, its over here!

Last day of Blogtoberfest!

Just a couple of things for the last day of Blogtoberfest!

Being the last day of October, I need to say
 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the Mr!
Celebrating 12 years of not being married.
Even my Grandfather offering us money to get married (years ago),
was not an incentive!!!

I've eventually finished this popcorn stitch lampshade cover
for the little ones room. She loves purple and orange.
(girls holding hands drawn by little G and cut out by big E)

Also made up this cushion from the op shopped fabric!
Had to wait a while till I found some of the pom pom edging.
I was going to just put orange all the way around,
but couldn't find enough of it!
So ended up putting some blue around too.

Joining up with Vic's My Place and Yours today
to show G's 'Where I sleep'.
There's Crosby and Lambie!
(wearing a crocheted dress by big sis)

Bunting from her birthday, and to make up for no curtains.

Well, I hope everyone had fun taking part in Blogtoberfest!
There were lots of giveaways to sign up for.
I'll post about my custom made giveaway doll 'as it happens' I'm sure!
Let me know if you are wanting a doll made for Christmas,
as it takes a bit of time to sort them out -
especially if you need to send me your childrens old baby clothes etc!
And my list is getting veeeeery long already!xx

My Creative Space - literally

This is the first place we've lived in,
where I have my own room for sewing!
Its the spare bedroom at the front of the house.

I've given it a much needed tidy to show you today.

You've seen these fabric shelves before.

But now its spread into the wardrobe too!

I flick between these machines.
I love having the two now - as it saves time on changing threads and feet!
The much needed touch lamp is an oppy find ($8)!xx

Today...

...we ventured out and found this brilliant
tape measure ribbon in a stationary shop.
It was such a good deal, I wish we'd got some more now of course!

But we also managed to get to a market.
It was very quiet and not many stall holders -
I think because we've had alot of thunder and lightening today.
I bought these wonderful oven gloves from Liddle Apples
 (tagged with Embelish).
They are made from a lovely vintage linen tea towel.
Yay - I don't have to try and make them myself - and I love the fabric!

Little Miss Crochet managed to score some chopsticks,
and proceeded to knit with them on the way home.
(yes, she has started carrying wool around in her handbag now -
don't know where she gets that from).

Squares

Granny squares!
This FANTASTIC fabric is by Cam ( Ms Curlypops )

We just had to make something straight away, as soon as this fabric arrived!
So the girls chose their favourite colour combos
 from the granny square collection.

Miss E stitched some brooch backings to some felt.

And carefully sewed the granny squares to another piece of felt.

Then fabric glued the two together
to make each of us a fabulous Go Granny brooch!

Of course Miss G chose purple and orange - her faves,
and here she wears her brooch at an angle! Love it!

If you would like your own Go Granny fabric - pop over to Cam's shop here!
Items made from Cam's fabric can be seen in the flickr group here.

** Also - please read this post - Cam is on the lung transplant wait list -
and needs our help after receiving some disappointing news. **

Thank you.xx

Cushioning the landing

So we've landed in Queensland (well - drove 7 hours)!
I've eventually unpacked the sewing machines -

and with the rest of my fabric still all packed away,
just taken out some vintage pieces I've been collecting,
to make some cushions for the new place!
(this one was to go with the graded green rug)

This was a single piece,

just big enough for a cushion cover.

My absolute fave of the lot is this one, it was so hard to cut into.

But I do have a bit left to make some for the shop - or more for us!
(Will post some more photos of the new place when things are a bit more sorted).

Yes well, I'm just ignoring this pile of empty boxes at the mo.
Will hopefully sort them out this weekend!xx
