Move

Hello!
Well I think that was the longest break I have ever had from my blog!
We moved countries (again), back to England..
After 3 hotels, and 2 Air Bnbs

It has taken us a long time to find a rental, as we bought our black cat with us.
Nearly all rentals here do not like pets - even though he is an indoor cat!
So we have eventually found somewhere, but it is very small -
so most of our things are in the garage!

No pantry, dishwasher or sewing room/studio.
I have been doing some hand sewing and have now started machine sewing again too,
so will post that soon!xx

Handmade Christmas

Here's a few Christmas pressies
I've been gradually collecting over the last month or so::

Special Edition Vintage Patchwork Dachshund from Alice Apple.

Some gorgeous polka dot crochet hooks for the big girl from Leonie
(in exchange for some Koala brooches)!

And also from Leonie - this beautiful dress for the little one.

With these very clever home made tags -
Leonie will be opening an Etsy store very soon!!

A couple of glass cases from Ms Curlypops.
(new glasses from Zenni Optical)

These cases are for Miss 11, but I use one for my phone too!
These two prints for the girls are from Ellen Giggenbach.

Love this watercolour for the Englishman.
From Art Pause.

Okay, so this last one isn't handmade - but I had to show anyway!
Its a little Kewpie doll  from Candy Stripe Cloud
A purple swim hat angel for our little swimmer who loves purple!
She's very tiny.

I hope you have a brilliant Christmas and New Year.
We will be moving into our own place -
so will be taking a break from the blog for a little bit!
See you in the New Year!
XXXX Jennie.

2011

Surreal. That is what I think I would call this year for us.
Starting over twice, not knowing where we would end up.
The 'makes' I've shared here (on what has essentially become a craft blog),
have helped me get through alot of tough times thats for sure!
I have met some beautiful bloggers who are SO amazing and supportive,
challenging me to push the boundaries and have a go at things I wouldn't have otherwise.

This sounds a bit corny, but I am hoping for peace for us in 2012.
Just a bit please! Enough of the big decisions and dramas.
I just want to plod along and evolve.

See you next year you guys!!
xxxJennie.

Cushioning the landing

So we've landed in Queensland (well - drove 7 hours)!
I've eventually unpacked the sewing machines -

and with the rest of my fabric still all packed away,
just taken out some vintage pieces I've been collecting,
to make some cushions for the new place!
(this one was to go with the graded green rug)

This was a single piece,

just big enough for a cushion cover.

My absolute fave of the lot is this one, it was so hard to cut into.

But I do have a bit left to make some for the shop - or more for us!
(Will post some more photos of the new place when things are a bit more sorted).

Yes well, I'm just ignoring this pile of empty boxes at the mo.
Will hopefully sort them out this weekend!xx

A New Creative Space

At last I have my Creative Space back again!!

It didn't look like this a couple of days ago though! It was the last space to get sorted, after moving in.

There were boxes everywhere - we had nearly 200 packages/furniture to unpack/unwrap. I found the dolls packed up, in the Ikea futon footstool. They hadn't been opened by quarantine at all!

Quite a bit had been opened though, and then things like tools had been chucked anywhere. So unpacking was a surprise. What was written on the box, wasn't necessarily what was in the box!
(we weren't allowed to pack the boxes ourselves - for insurance purposes)

Anyway, I had another sort out of all my fabic. So am going to try and only keep what I can fit on the shelving unit (top photo).

We'll see how long that lasts.

My sewing machine had been put in its original box,so was safe and sound!

Part of my Creative Space is the dining room, and also a space for the computer table (its an L shaped room). Unfortunately, being a rental - we can only put pictures up where there are already hooks.

I found this little guy, he doesn't look too happy though. Maybe because his legs were sewn on wonky. Leave a comment if you know of a good home for him,  I'll pick someone and send him off tomorrow!!

Well, thats my first Creative Space for this year Kirsty! xx
