My Week ::

Some free motion sewing - white thread on black!
#whitewineglass #notreally

Knickerbockers
 {actually a sort of halloween thing going on here ..}

This double string necklace has been in my head for ages!
Love these colours together.

I hadn't set out to try and collect this set of vintage Pyrex,
just came across them in the op shop over the last couple of weeks!

I had been using a phone case for my iphone,
but now have a custom made granny square case
made (and fabric designed by) Cam!

I haven't had much luck finding vintage buttons at
the op shops recently, so bought some on Etsy!

Love vintage buttons - they can be used
as earrings on the dolls, or even brooches etc.

This is a little bit of free motion sewing that our daughter did as part
of her science project recently. She was showing the different layers of a cross
section of an eco friendly water filter she designed. She also used some of my
black tutu netting for another part of the filter!

I hadn't made any maori dolls for a long long time.

So have put this girl in the shop, and will add another one soon too!

And lastly, I have eventually ordered a huge piece of
merino wool felt for the dolls hair - just black at the moment.
As I'm making quite a lot of the Frida dolls.
It makes sense, as there will hopefully be less off cuts etc.
Just took me a while to commit to such a large amount!

Hope you are have had a good week,
we have school holidays for the next 2 weeks.
This term has gone so quickly!xxJ

Overdue opshop post ::

Its been months and months since I've done an op shop post!
So here are my best finds from the thrift stores over the last few months ::
This gorgeous little jug with watercolour flowers dripping down the sides.
(because I neeed another jug)!

A huge flower print.
It originally had a gold frame, which has now been spray painted black!

I really really love this print.
It fits perfectly in our home.
The lamp and bedside table were opped too.
The granny stripe rug, cushions and lampshade cover made by me!

This little shelf which I spray painted for above my cutting table.

And another - for the little ones room.

Some vintage neck ties. I love the textured ones the best.
Some places are charging up to $6 each for these.
I won't pay more than $2 though!

These Royal Staffordshire plates are actually teen tiny - oh so cute.

Blue Polish glassware.
One large dish and six small bowls.

And the most recent finds ::
this small dish at the front.
(the others are opped too)

And this 18 piece Staffordshire set :: cups, saucers and side plates.
Also the two Johnson Bros plates at the back.

These last two are actually from antiques shops, but still V good bargains.
This vintage clock didn't work and the brass edges were black!
The Mr put a whole new clock piece in and cleaned her up amazingly well!

This was my birthday pressie.
A vintage lamp whose hat sometimes gets knocked off!
(the tiered jewellery box was thrifted)

So thats it.
Will probably be another couple of months before doing another opshop post.
All depends on the op shop Gods. Sometimes theres few and far between,
then you spot a bit of gold that makes up for it!xx

ps. There's a little Q & A over here with me!

What a find ::

Seeing things. In the op shop.
Sometimes you walk past them.
Sometimes you stop. And see them for what they could be.

For a long time, our eldest has had a gorgeous
inner sprung mattress and storage drawers beneath, but no head board.
We lugged it all the way from England.
And at last, in an oppie - I saw a head board for $10!

Not much choice of colour.
She had options, but only from the spray paint we already had.
So of course she went for the green. (yay!)

So now Gordon and Ella are comfy and settling in.
The white walls are gradually getting some colour from shelves,
pictures and now headboards!!x

Op Shop Finds

A bag of gorgeous buttons for 50 cents? Yes please!

Two big pieces of this gorgeous scene.

A few old LP's.

A huge machine embroidered table cloth.

This delicious looking wool rug that is going to be even softer after a hot wash.

But my main find this week, was this little plate.
I'd seen it quite a while ago in the oppy glass cabinet, but it was out of my price range.
This week though, it had been marked down and then it was half price as well!
Meant to be, me thinks!x
