New Australiana wildflower neckpieces

Here are just some of the new neckpieces I'll be uploading to the shop this week.

They are all made from vintage Australiana table cloths. 

Some were quite faded, but I have added a lot of detail with many many stitches. 

They are all one of a kind, tied with black ribbon and backed with soft merino wool felt.

I have been slowly collecting vintage Australiana tea towels and table cloths for the last year, to make into these one of a kind neckpieces. They have quite a few stitches, as not only are they all free motion sewn - they are then free motion sewn together. I sew over the floral pattern again, camouflaged so that you can't see where they have been joined!

Perfect for Mother's Day, they are available in my shop now!

Here are some of my latest free motion

The sunflowers have SO many little stitches, 

picking out the details of the fabric.

Having a go at a little neckpiece a bit different from the ones I've done before!

It took a while because the stitching is so small and detailed.

I'll hopefully find time to have another go at some point..

(looks more like a pencil sketch from further away!)

Sewing the big looping petals has been quite therapeutic for me this week.

I'm surprised at how even they have turned out.  

I'm not sure if I've mentioned before that I get nervous alot, when I'm about to do the free motion sewing. I always worry that its not going to turn out, that I won't be able to do it. Being confident in myself is something that I really really need to work on. I still cannot get my mother's voice out of my head - that what I'm making is basically a waste of time and do I really think that anyone is going to buy that?!?!!

It seems to be ingrained and I'm not quite sure how to get rid of it.

So I'm listening to my own advice this week ::

just keep going and have a go!!xx
