And a custom Frida Kahlo doll, with red flowers in her hair and skull necklace!

New silk Frida's

I've been working on a few new Frida Kahlo dolls for the store.

These ones have some silk flowers in their hair!

Frida has to be my favourite make as I can go a bit OTT!

First make of the New Year

This is my first make of the New Year :

a custom made Frida Kahlo doll in turquoise and red!

She has a free motion sewn wrap, personalized with her new owners nickname, a custom floral headdress and her right leg is smaller than her left (just like Frida).xx

Frida :: The Silk Collection

I have made some limited edition, special silk Frida Kahlo dolls.

These Frida's are all one of a kind. They're dresses are made from 

dupioni silk, some having the dual shine of another colour at certain angles.

They have more jewellery, wraps sewn on to hold in place

and different trims to their long skirts. Some of them even have 

one leg smaller than the other, just like Frida.

The Silk Collection

Here are a few hints of The Silk Collection.

This will be a limited edition release of Frida doll's made from silk fabric.

Their jewellery, neckpieces and wraps will be a little 

different from the normal Frida's I make.

They will be more elaborate, more luxurious.

I will put a few up in the shop to start with and there 

will also be a some available at a design

 market I am doing in a few months time.

I've been gradually sewing these faces over the last few months,

and they've eventually ended up in these hoops.

It is so much fun matching (or even not matching) up the fabrics,

faces, flowers and jewellery. I'm making some for a design market later 

this year, but have also put a couple in the shop !!

Free motion Frida

Here are some new Frida Kahlo brooches -

made using free motion sewing, vintage fabrics and little beads.

Most of these are now available at

Artisan Queensland.

But there are also a few left in my Etsy store!xx

Made by hand

I've started on a koala softie order this week,

I haven't sewn these faces for such a long time!

I've also sent off some black cats and a Frida Kahlo doll

to Gleaners Inc in Melbourne.

And listed some more of the dolls I've been working on 

for the last few months, they are over in my Etsy store.
