Last day of Blogtoberfest!

Just a couple of things for the last day of Blogtoberfest!

Being the last day of October, I need to say
 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the Mr!
Celebrating 12 years of not being married.
Even my Grandfather offering us money to get married (years ago),
was not an incentive!!!

I've eventually finished this popcorn stitch lampshade cover
for the little ones room. She loves purple and orange.
(girls holding hands drawn by little G and cut out by big E)

Also made up this cushion from the op shopped fabric!
Had to wait a while till I found some of the pom pom edging.
I was going to just put orange all the way around,
but couldn't find enough of it!
So ended up putting some blue around too.

Joining up with Vic's My Place and Yours today
to show G's 'Where I sleep'.
There's Crosby and Lambie!
(wearing a crocheted dress by big sis)

Bunting from her birthday, and to make up for no curtains.

Well, I hope everyone had fun taking part in Blogtoberfest!
There were lots of giveaways to sign up for.
I'll post about my custom made giveaway doll 'as it happens' I'm sure!
Let me know if you are wanting a doll made for Christmas,
as it takes a bit of time to sort them out -
especially if you need to send me your childrens old baby clothes etc!
And my list is getting veeeeery long already!xx

A heart full of butter

(what an unhealthy title!)
We've been wanting to make Cathie's Butter Cake for ages now.
And with the little one really not well this weekend,
decided to cheer her up with this.
So thank you Cathie for giving us a very easy recipe,
which is just soooo yummy. Made in our op shopped heart cake tin,
and topped with butter icing. Recipe here!x

A little handmade gift

The girls school are celebrating World Teachers Day today.
And even though Miss 10 has had a really busy week of homework,
spelling and a project to finish - she still managed to make a necklace
for her new teacher.

She crocheted some navy and also a mix of aqua blues.
I gave her a strip of pretty fabric and
after bunching them together - just zig zagged across!

I hope these buttons dried in time!
Happy World Teachers Day Miss French!x

My Creative Space - literally

This is the first place we've lived in,
where I have my own room for sewing!
Its the spare bedroom at the front of the house.

I've given it a much needed tidy to show you today.

You've seen these fabric shelves before.

But now its spread into the wardrobe too!

I flick between these machines.
I love having the two now - as it saves time on changing threads and feet!
The much needed touch lamp is an oppy find ($8)!xx

Red

There seems to be alot of it around here today!
Red lipstick - tho this may change once she is all made up...

Vintage fabric - red, with a bit of orange too.
Making a start on some orders.
They look so different like this,
nothing like what they end up becoming really.

And even a bit of red on the post bag.
Sending some lovelies off to some lovely people.
How is everyone going with the Blogtoberfest challenge?
We're getting there now!!xx

Op Shop Find

Two different sets of vintage cups.
Found in NSW not long before we left!
I love the shape of these.
(reflection is of me holding the camera above my head to take the shot!)

I new exactly where I was going to put them,
when the only pic I saw of our new house before we moved - was the kitchen!
They were the first things unpacked and placed here.
They are quite small, and only just fit in this space. (phew!)
The mustard set are made in Holland
and have 3 drip marks from drying underneath.

They have a saucer each too.
At less than a dollar each, probably one of my favourite finds!xx

...more here.

Freakishly Fantastic

That is what a lovely lady called the dolls today!
Never heard that term before -
think she meant they are different (in a good way)!
We had a really lovely day at the Environmental Festival today.
The children held a huge python and stroked big lizards,
blue tongued skinks and a cheeky wombat! (he was trying to nibble at Greta!)
They also saw bilbies, piglets, calves, wallabies, a black swan,
a spinny leaf insect, a dingo and an emu...!
V exciting!!!

There were lots of vintage/second hand loveliness there.
I picked up these vintage buttons which should suit earrings for the girls at some point (dolls not daughters). They are from the lovely Kijaro. And the dolls were photographed for a newspaper article. It was my first step into a market here in Australia. So thank you to everyone for making us welcome, especially Laura and her mum who we were next to. And to Selina for coming to visit us with her beautiful daughter! Hoping to do the Suitcase Rummage in the city next time!xxx

Self Portrait Challenge for Blogtoberfest

So I took a photo of myself and just kept
 chopping and chopping the photo.
As its all about the eyes around here,
I ended up with this image that I really really like.
Now thats saying something,
when I'm really not liking my 'always tired eyes' at the mo!
Have a go and see what you come up with for the

Yesterday I was lucky enough to meet up with a fellow blogger!
We had such a great 'real life' catch up,
after following each others blogs for ages.
Selina makes the most wonderful quilts,
bunnies and bears from vintage chenile.

Truly gorgeous. Thanks so much for yesterday Selina

Free Motion Sewn Doll

This is all done with free motion sewing - or thread drawing.
The dress and scarf are made from a vintage napkin.
Now that she's all sewn up, theres bits I'm not happy with -
mainly with the eyes. But as her face was sewn on the machine, theres not much I can do about it now!
(she could do with a bit of lippy tho...)x
