Op Shop Finds

These are my op shop finds for this week. I was in two minds about whether to post these cushion patterns - as I'm not good (at all) at following patterns! One is from 1965, the other 1975. I love them, especially the round ones. But it'll take some time to get my head around the terminology...!

More doilies and embroidery of course!

And some lovely LPs to recycle! I got a Glenn Miller 1958, Avengers '67, and a load of 1970's. The Elton John and Boney M had never been opened!
For some other exciting flea market finds, go to Sophie's at Her Library Adventures!

My Creative Space

Matching up faces/eyeshadow with outfits.

Just the usual in My Creative Space! (dolls, dolls, dolls!)

All lined up and looking rather hungry!

Professor G

While taking the other photos, Miss G requested a photo in her googly professor glasses. They are so thick that you can hardly see anything!

Miss Elegance

Completed at last! With her (nick) name machine sewn onto the back, and her toes pointing up instead of in. Chunky pearls at her neck and a delicate pearl bracelet. Most of my budget went on the diamonte belt buckle! Click on her for a closer look.

Busy, busy.

This has been one busy weekend! I had a great day at Crafternoon Tea yesterday. And then today I have been at our local town hall. Selling our old baby clothes/toys at a jumble sale for the Parents Centre. So its been great to make some room around here!

After having a brief sit down, I have done a bit more on my latest custom order (the first one I've had from a gentleman - for his sister!) I've kept the dress simple, as that was Audrey's style. I am also sewing a nickname on the back this time, as the dress is black (instead of painting it on). The finishing touch will be the chunky pearl necklace!

Colour & a bit of Audrey!

I've been sorting through all the beads/bracelets that I use for the dolls necklaces. With the addition of some from America (thanks friend!), I have quite a few to choose from now. I have to get them when I see them, as its not a good feeling running low on these precious things! They can either stay on the dolls or be worn by the recipient.

A bit more colour here - with a cushion that has been 'sectioned'. I am not really a pink person, but I do like the pink and green together! (and yes, I love the retro swirls!)

And I've also been sorting out some items for a custom made doll - requested to be dressed like Audrey Hepburn. Her hair won't be like Audrey's, just to warn you! It'll be light brown. I think I'll be going even heavier on the eye make-up for this one. Yay!

My Creative Space.

I have a new sewing box in my space today! Instead of waiting to come across one, I ended up getting this 'new version' in an emporium! I've lined it with some card in my favourite colours!

And am starting to fill it with 'essentials'.
The photo on the right, is the lid, filled with tiny bits, under glass.

I've also been working on some zip bags made from some gorgeous new fabric purchased yesterday.

And a custom order for a beautiful 2 year old who loves ladybirds and strawberries!

Pop over to Kootoyoo for more creative spaces!

I love this.
Pop over to Ree's for a visit to her Ga-Ga's.

And an addition to that lovely story is this.

Rose Petals for Valentines.

I've made two new cushions to take to the market tomorrow.

The first is the round vintage style, made with some unusual fabric strewn with painted rose petals! In the centre of each side is a handmade flower button I bought at the Franklin Arts Festival.

And the green cushion is made from two vintage linen napkins. I love those colours!

So if you are in Auckland this weekend, stop by the Devonport Craft Market and say hi! There is going to be lots of new stalls to see!

My Creative Space: Dolls For Haiti

I've made a start on some dolls that will be heading for an orphanage in Haiti. If you are interested in donating your time and creativity, go to Dolly Donations or for more information go to the Abundant Ground Foundation.

All dolls need to be in New York for the Haiti Orphan Dolly Drive by March 31st. They will then be sent together to Haiti. This type of help for the children who have lost their families is priceless.

Also in My Creative Space today, is some (still cooling) recycled 'rainbow crayons'.

And a cushion made from some gorgeous fabric that I found at the Vintage Textile Fair.

From 1978

I've eventually finished the doll made with clothes from 1978!

I had issues with the collar. And ended up leaving the points the original size. (thats what it was all about at that time anyway, right?) I also wasn't too sure about painting the mouth open. But the recipient has assured me that shes thrilled with her! (phew)

With the left over dress fabric, I made a purse for her daughter. (who happens to be turning 5 years old today!)

And in the post today, I received my new postcards! They are to hand out at the craft markets. Its the first ones I've had with photos of the dolls on!

Featured Seller!

Doily Doorstops

A big thank you to the Sarah's at Devonport Craft Market for having me as their featured seller this month! Check it out here.

Devonport is a beautiful part of Auckland, with the old villas lining the streets. And the ferry docks only a short walk away from where the market is, on Clarence Street.

Looking forward to being there on Valentines Day!

My Creative Space.

In my creative space today, I've finished off a few vintage linen zip bags.

And started on some tape measure bags too.

But what I really need to get onto is a doll for a very good friend. These are her clothes from 1978, which I am going to use.
