Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not good with patterns.
But after seeing all the lovely creations in Cam's Sew Along this last week,
I was inspired to have a go at a simple tunic top.
All was going well until I went to sew the arms on.
The shoulder/arm pieces were bigger than the allotted arm holes.
So I ended up pleating the extra at the top of each arm.
It makes the shoulders look a little bit puffy.
Thats me trying to suck it in.
So I hope I don't look like I'm wearing a sack.
I've never made anything for me to wear before, so this was a bit of a big deal.
I think I need to keep trying with a few different fabrics
and see how they turn out. I'm not ready to try a different pattern yet -
this was scary enough (but not as hard as I thought)!
** Update :: I've now made a belt from the same fabric
to go with it - much better!
Pattern :: Kwik Sew 3870
Photography :: Miss 10 who's home with a cold today.
Beginner Bonuses :: There is no interfacing for the neckline, no zips or buttons!

I think it looks awesome & you chose a fab fabric for it.. (how many f's was that!) And NO, it doesn't look like a sack!
I actually think it looks cool! I love the fabric.
I've had problems with arm holes, too. I think it came down to the fact that I included an amount for hemming(?) on all the other edges of the dress/shirt, but didn't make the same adjustment for the arm holes so they ended up being smaller and out-of-proportion ... if that makes sense.
I completely understand where you are coming from here because I recently tried sewing myself a sleeveless dress... Lets just say I shouldn't have ignored the fabric suggestions on the pattern... But NO it does not look like a sack... It looks great! That fabric is perfect for it too.
Tunic definetely, nothing sack-like about it. Love the fabric you used jennie.
Yay! Well done! Not sack like at all, very cute! I love that arm length on you too!
sack I can't see any sacks here xo
I think it's gorgeous and I'm really loving that geometric fabric print!
It looks great! I can so sympathise on the sleeve problem... I am forever gathering at the top of the sleeve! ;) Lovely tunic Jennie. Kx
Good job on the tunic. Try pairing it with a wider belt, or wearing it as a short dress with accessories and knee high socks! I love the fabric btw!
Looks good, and great photography Miss 10.
