Having a go

I'm having a go at making dolls for 5 siblings this week!

A big box of  baby clothes arrived from New Zealand.
Each child's clothes in seperate bags with a photo and description.

Nerves of steel are needed sometimes, with the cutting up of (especially small) baby clothes! I definately have to be in the right mood to do it. I painted the faces first, on the weekend. Then cut their hair last night.
Today, I started on their clothes. Its such a challenge sometimes, to get the different elements of the sentimental clothes that I want and piece them together.  As with most things I've been making, there is not much planning going on. Just get in there and have a go. Most of the time things don't turn out how I expect anyway! I'm hoping to get most of these guys done by the end of the week, as they need to be back in New Zealand in time for Christmas!
Do you plan when you create or see how things go along the way?x

wow! That's one big order.
You know I totally get about cutting into the baby clothes.
And you and I are pretty alike, i never really plan either just get stuck into it, and hope for the best.
Can't wait to see them xo

You can guess with me, surely...? ;)

No planning - it's so much easier that way. No expectations to worry about either, it's a surprise to me most of the time what I end up with! No planning also means I can't really fail, just modify & adapt - if I was one to follow patterns or tutes I think I'd stink so much at it I'd give up this craft game altogether.

Good luck with the sibling dolls - I'd almost forgotten you did that, with the baby clothes. I'm going to rummage about in the cupboard... I have a little Punk turning 4 in January don't you know...

Gosh what an amazing order to make. I totally get the fear of cutting into those clothes!
You're an amazing maker and I'm absolutely sure they will be fabulous.

I am definitely in the "have a go" camp... when I try to carefully make plans, things rarely turn out the way I hoped...
(and wow - 5 sibling dolls! I hope they all get along!)

Oh my, what a task! I know that you will make the perfect dolls for them, how wonderful!

I once made a bear and elephant out of a friend's cherished blanket that belonged to her grandmother who had passed away, I was so nervous about it. They turned out just right in the end though!

PS. I love Barry!
