eeeek ... pink!

A challenge is always good, I know! But scary at the same time...

I can only really show bits of this doll, it is from a picture I was given. So its not the normal face that I paint!

It was requested for a present. A reward for a little girl who is giving up her dummy.
(I have sewn her name to the back.)

 (the tail!)

Thats it - can't show any more. Incase she is recognised!

Last minute gifts...

So the plan was to make some sort of map playmat for my twin nephews first birthdays (they live in London at the mo). But time has got away on me, and I have ended up making them some cushions instead. I've used maps of London  for their initials.

And for their birthday cards, I've sewn their names onto some NZ wool rugs.
Got to go and finish off some more maori dolls now, theres a few heads that need sewing up!
Hope you have a good week!x

Just Perfect

The last two days have been spent filling endless bags for the charity shops.
I have been ruthless. Extreme decluttering.
Anyway, checking the post was a nice break, especially when  - at last, some things had arrived from Portland!

Two beautiful prints from Emily Martin. Both are just perfect for our two girls.
I try to bring home cupcakes from the markets I do, as a treat - if they've been good! So this one is for the Little Miss. She adores it, especially the little hedgehog selling cupcakes!

And this is even more perfect for our book worm. We have to prise the books from her at night, and then as soon as she wakes up in the morning - she is reading. And on the way to school.....

Heres our bookworm, books everywhere.
Perfect.

My Creative Space

Apart from these two wineglass softies,

I've been mainly working with maori braiding this week...

The fourth girl is missing from this shot because she decided she wanted a change of lip colour at the last minute!
Take a peek at some other Creative Spaces over at Kirsty's!

(these are in no way meant to be traditional dolls, they are my take of a modern version)

My MTV Nephews!

My identical twin nephews were filmed for this music video by Riva Starr feat.Noze.
The lip sinking is off in this version, but you get the drift! Don't worry, they didn't really have to wear those moustaches! The outdoor shots were  filmed in the freezing Wimbledon Park in London.
And they are just the spitting image of my brother when he was younger!
(PS.I think he is drunk on milk?)

HERE IS THE OFFICIAL VERSION!

Sweet Blog Friends

This lovely brooch arrived in the post for me this week!Isn't it the most gorgeous flower??
It was made for me by the sweet  Cathie who's daughter has one of my dolls(pictured in one of the photos below). She also sent me some gorgeous greeting cards - made from the fabulous photos she takes, mainly of her yummy baking! Thank you so much Cathie, you really brightened my day with such a thoughtful gift!
I adore it!xx

My Creative Space

Sometimes

it takes

getting creative

to take

your mind

off things.

That is what is so great
 about this crafting thing.

This girl is for a 76 year old op shop worker.
She would like the plaits turned up.

(better start thinking about what i am doing!)

Take your mind off things, and pop over to Kirsty's this morning.x

Brightening my day..

... is this!

I have eventually opened an etsy store!
I uploaded a couple of dolls yesterday and have already had a request about a custom order. If I had realized how easy it all was, I would have done it sooner. So if you have been thinking about it, just go for it!

Here are the girls that are on etsy at the mo, you've probably seen them on here, whilst I was making them.

(meaning unconditional love)

Miss Candice mixes it up!

(with a bit of help from Miss 4!)
This is the latest update about our visitor from Canada.
Here they are trying out Cat's recipe for play dough.

Here's some frame by frame colour changes for you! Guess what Miss 4's fav colour is? Yup, Miss Candice didn't have much say in that!

It was so easy to make, just mix all the ingrediants together and cook for a few minutes till it starts looking like play dough!

The girls spent ages on the kitchen island making some v cool things.
This dough turns out so smooth, and didn't stick to the rolling pin - yay!

Yes, Miss Candice got her turn too.
Though she would like some say in the colour next time!

Looks like our girl in Canada is having a great time too!!
