My Creative Space

Heres a few sneaky shots of some finished dolls who haven't met their owners yet!

Made from the girls old dress, the legs are from the under skirt and frill.

The brief for these girls was for them to match the bedroom decor.

Bright pink and black.

Bright purple and silver.

This one is made from some beautiful shantung silk.
(i had a ball dress once, made from blue shantung silk).

And some items that arrived yesterday, to be made into a doll for a friend's god daughter. A favourite cardy that no longer fits, with bow and buttons sewn on the front. Some purple tulle and stripey fabric.  Jewel buttons and a strip of vintage glass flowers.

Let's go see what everyone else is up to...!

Flea Market Finds of the Year

As part of this months Blogtoberfest, Sophie is doing a round up of our favourite Flea Market Finds from this year so far! As I virtually live at the oppy, I came across quite a few gems this year. Here are a couple that stand out for me!  The art deco teapot.

The vintage Singer sewing machine.

And these vintage doll faces.
(which i have as my screensaver!)

Pop over to Sophie's to see everyone else's finds, and vote for your favourite!!x

My Creative Space

I've been doing some haircuts in my space this morning...
(after getting absolutely drenched leaving kindy!)

One is made from a little ladies old clothes and the others are some special requests - including a bit of silver fabric! (which gets everywhere when you cut it!)

These girls are from earlier in the week, they are looking a bit starving here...

But they were soon full up, and looking a bit healthier!

Kiwiana.

And maori braiding.

Kaka beak.

All packed up safe, and ready to go!

Anyone else getting crafty this week?x

At my house...

...we had an early morning call to say that friends had forgotten to send out invitations for a birthday party - thats on tomorrow!  I already had a doll face painted, so just had to find some nice blues for her. (the birthday girls fav colour)

...we had a lovely package arrive from Cinti, of some gorgeous vintage fabric! Thank you - loving these colours/textures!!

...and a haircut that was made very uncomfortable when the hairdresser tried to get the comb through. (**check for dried food in hair, even when you've just washed it the night before!)

See what else is going on over at Lou's today.x

My Creative Space

A few weeks ago Miss 9 expressed ALOT of interest in knitting! I only had some mohair/angora wool from the op shop, which I couldn't pass by because of the colour.  So this was her first attempt. Not bad, especially considering its probably not the easiest type of wool for a beginner to start with!

So when she kept at it, we went and got her a proper set of needles (instead of the op shopped miss matched pair I have, for stuffing the dolls). And she started again, with some normal wool.

She made this beautiful scarf for her doll, who sits on her bed every day (with that knowing look).

And also helped me with this scarf, for one of the boy dolls.

He is part of a little group, ready to fly off to Dolly Donations. Along with the girls from my doll swap, earlier this year!

If you have time today, do pop over to Kirsty's and have a nosey at some other Creative Spaces!x

Creative School Hols

Its the end of the 2 week school hols in NZ.
So here are a few pics of some creativity thats been going on around here.

Stoney faces.

Magnetix.

Probably the best toy we have invested in. Endless ideas seem to spring from play with this. Great to take in the car, when waiting to pick up older siblings from school!

A self portrait.

Eventually changed the buttons on this op shopped Country Road cardy. And made her a messenger  bag like mummy's. Its covered in vintage buttons and is purple of course! (very basic, as I am no bag maker)

A trip to the emporium, where there were endless items to fascinate and spend pocket money on!

And a few photos taken, to be put on the wall of a craft room/studio (when I get one - one day!)

Some baking with another member of our family,
 Mr Peppermint Kitchen Aid.

White chocolate chip cookies.

And three items made by the big Miss, that are in the exhibition at our local art gallery.
A box with hidden compartments.

A cuckoo clock with working time piece.

And a paper mache kiwi. (love)

 So proud of you!

Hmmmm, these two seem to have grown up a bit since I last took photos of them. Their 5 year age gap seems to be getting smaller as time goes by. Scary.

They thought it was extremely funny when we told them the other day that they talk to each other in their sleep! They are in different rooms. But the other night, the little one yelled out 'its my turn!!' then the other one immediately yelled back 'I'm playing cards with Daddy!!' It was midnight, and they were both fast asleep. This is exactly what they had been doing just before bed!
