I found these vintage embroidery thread books a while ago.
I don't think they have the original threads inside. But they've definately been in there a while! (all flattened down).
There is a round piece of very thick felt in one of the front covers, to keep needles in (the sides). The only embroidery I really do at the moment is for the faces of some soft toys. I haven't used any of these threads yet!

What a treasure! Even the covers of the books are just beautiful. I'd keep them in tact just to look at!

They are really unusual - I have never seen anything like that before. It doesn't matter if you don'y use them - they are just graet to look at!

They are lovely! Such a great find. I think vintage sewing notions are just so lovely, especially when they look like they were once used and treasured by a crafty person. x
Most excellent. I came accross some vintage ric-rac just the other day & think I shan't use it, I will treasure it instead... usually I am big on using vintage items - it gives them new life & makes you happy, but consumables... I just bring myself to do it!
