At my house...

Nope, its not fabric. (for a change)

Its not Scandinavian either. (which i thought it looked like)

Its made by James Kents English pottery company Old Foley. The design is 'Melody'.

Dinner, lunch and side plates (a couple of plain blue bowls too). Not a complete set, but enough for us - at only $20!!!

Apparently they had just been put out, when I spotted them at our local oppy, which is why they hadn't been snapped up yet - YAY! I really love blue and white so these are just perfect. But we needed something to put on them, so I called the staff and cracked the whip...

Yet more concentration in our kitchen, whilst cutting up some puff pastry to decorate their chilli pies!

From this...

...to this!

(and a few pinwheels too)
So now you know what we are having  for tea tonight - and looking especially good on the new (old) dinner service!

My Creative Space

I've been making some dolls for a lovely fellow blogger/crafter this week!

The outfits are made from her daughters gorgeous baby clothes. There is a pocket opening in the back of this doll, made from the Bonds 'easysuit' crossover...

Made from two baby outfits again, the back is stripey...

The fabric for this dress is made from part of the great-grandmother's ballgown, that she used to wear when she was younger. The dress was used for dress ups for the different generations of the family, and also made into various things along the way. So now its being used for the great-granddaughters doll, as well as one of her necklaces she used to wear. I think this is one of the most sentimental dolls I have made!!

Hope everyones having a crafty day indoors today - its unbelievably windy outside here!!x

Magnetic Pin Cuff

Look what arrived for me in the post today!

It is a magnetic wrist cuff made with Liberty fabric, for my pins when I am putting the dolls together!
I missed out on my first choice of fabric, which was the yellow (you can see it in the 'i' of Liberty here).  But I am thrilled with my second choice - a lovely blue, white and red. It came with a set of 5 pins made from the same fabric!

Thank you Kirsty  for coming up with this fabulous idea, and making them in such gorgeous fabrics!
(aren't there some clever clever people out there?!!)

My Creative Space

With the little one ill in the night, I ended up at the kitchen bench making these brooches at 3am this morning. (i'd already painted the fabric stiffener on the doilies a while ago)! I made some like these at the beginning of the year, but with vintage buttons. Theres only one left, which I wear myself. These ones are made with vintage clip on earrings - so have a different look again.

And here's a peek at some orders I've been finishing off.

A bit of kiwiana for overseas.

A doll for a graduating midwife.

Some cushion covers made from old curtains for a friend of a friend.

And these are the 4 sisters from my last Creative Space!

Ki-ki, Mary-Jane Gracie, Josephina Pearl, Violetta-Rose.

For more creative spaces pop over to the clever Kirsty!
I'm off to read Miss G a story, I'll be back later to visit!
(I'll have coffee thanks)x

Vintage Textile Fair Finds.

These are my favourite finds from the Vintage Textile Fair today!
This gorgeous pale green gets me every time.

Striking purples and blues.

A little green puppy behind some unopened presents.

A linen table cloth and a bright apron.

Some wide blue trim.

And some vintage braiding.

 A gorgeous teatowel.

A vintage sheet.

And a few belt buckles that will hopefully suit some dolls at some point!

Pop over to Sophie's to see some other finds this week!

Feel like helping out??

After the recent devastating earthquake in Christchurch, NZ - some crafty kiwi's have got together to raise some funds. An online store has been created where handmade items have been donated. The proceeds of each sale will go to help rebuild the city and take care of those who have lost their homes.

So pop over to FeltAid and see what you can find!
These two dolls are up for grabs.
There is standard postage on them, which will be donated too. I will post worldwide though.
